Schultz, ASUO to propose removing Pacfica Forum from EMU

ASUO Senate Vice President Nicholas Schultz is working on a proposal to remove the Pacifica Forum from the EMU. This seems to be a much easier solution to moving the pesky Forum from the EMU than simply waiting for their host, Orval Etter, to die.

The proposal, so far, is sponsored by Senate President Gower, Senate Ombudsperson Alexander McCafferty, SenateĀ  Treasurer Lyzi Diamond, Senator Christopher Bocchicchio, Senator Jeremy Blanchard, and Senator Zachary Stark-MacMillan.

The proposal is still a work in progress, but it can be read here.

In part, the proposal wishes to move the Forum because, “the ASUO declares that the Pacifica Forum has fostered an environment of hostility that has compromised the welcoming environment of the Erb Memorial Union”

The resolution is expected to be discussed at next week’s Senate meeting.

  1. […] the Commentator on this very blog. Unfortunately, if we or the ASUO Senate were to react with a consequent emotional response, we would stand on no higher ground than the Forum […]

The Commentator has not deleted any comments defending the Pacifica Forum.

  3. Jay Knott says:

The Commentator is pretty good at parodying humorless lefties. You are how students ought to be – irreverent and shamelessly privileged. So why do you delete comments defending the Pacifica Forum, which is the definition of political incorrectness? First they came for the Forum… you’ll be next!

Cage fights with Pacifica members vs. Survival Center eco-terror dreads.

  5. C.T. Behemoth says:

Hostility created by the dumbasses who go to protest dumbasses with their right to free speech.

If dumbasses stay home, there is no audience ergo there is no hostility.

  6. Ossie says:

The OC should fight against this. The Pacifica Forum has been providing priceless Spew for years. It’d be a shame to see it go.

  7. Sean says:

Whether you want the Forum gone or not, that’s a bullshit politically-charged reason to remove the Forum. All it says is, “I don’t agree with what they have to say, so I want them gone.”
Same could be said for the Commentator. Or the Insurgent. Or any group.
Doesn’t removing a group compromise the welcoming environment of the EMU? It’s not like these guys are going to the JSU and putting up Holocaust denial pamphlets (or maybe they are?).
