Oregon Ranks 18th in Alcohol Culture
According to the Gannet Wisconsin Media’s “State of Drinking” special report (complete with interactive map), Oregon ranks 18th in the nation for permeation of alcohol in our culture. I was hoping for a higher score, considering Portland has more breweries than any other city on earth, but whatever. We still kicked California, Washington and Idaho’s ass. Wisconsin came in first, and Alabama came in last (”sweet home” my ass!).

Them southerners are the best drinkers I’ve ever met. Ultra cheap booze flows freely down there, and they starts at a young age I’ve been told. I thought I had some good practice just graduating and being a homebrewer, but those southern boys drank me under the table…

Well, they’re also quite fat which gives them a natural advantage.

Get Sudsy to advocate for better alcohol use and to fight the OLCC. He is the peoples chance!

ATTENTION: Nate Gulley appears in NYTimes — unbelievable that he’d get such coverage. Read his quote less than halfway in.
NOTE FROM THE ADMIN Learn to use html you dumbfucks. Seriously, this is 2008, it’s a hyperlink, stop breaking the blog.

Nate Gulley, 23, who grew up in Cleveland and is also here as a Politicorps fellow, said too much was being made of Mr. Obama’s every move.
“It’s important not to get swept up in ‘Is Obama posturing?’ ” Mr. Gulley said. “It’s self-evident that he’s a different kind of candidate.”
Oh, so Obama can waffle on FISA or pretty much anything else, but it’s alright because he’s “a different kind of candidate” (self-evidently). Dumbfuck.

Nate Gulley is a self-evident hero to the causes of not knowing what the term self-evident means. Commentator, please start a petition to revoke his U of O degree.

Don’t worry Goop, his degree is in Ethnic Studies, he’s basically just a certified douche bag now.

Gulley will be giving some sort of presentation on environmental racism in Portland on Wednesday. Apparently, he’s some sort of expert now!

Apparently Politicorps position responsibilities also include wandering the Oregon Country Fair in a “Vote F*cker” tee-shirt.
Of course, Sudsy had a full weekend camping pass… and nobody made him tear up voter reg cards with “Republican” in the party affiliation section. And he got hot-and-heavy with a topless bottle of Cazadores Reposado.
Your Revolution is over Mr Gulley. Condolences, the drunks won. The drunks will always win, Gulley. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job sir.

In related Country Fair news, former ASUO Exec candidate Ari Lesser has still not given up his hip-hop revolutionary ways. He’s got some new material, but on the whole he still is to “progressive politics” what Gunther is to sex. Only with less irony.

In response to
“ethnic studies is departmentalized racism so he is a certified racist haley”
The Departmentalization of Ethnic Studies demonstrates the University’s commitment to the Diversity Plan and the 4 demands of the Student Unions drafted several years ago. When ES was simply a Program, it symbolized the University’s neglect for students of color and underrepresented students. This has been a battle against “The Man” for over a decade now and I’m deeply saddened by those that bash the significance of this social movement. When non-allies proposed resolutions in the Senate to support ES departmentalization it symbolized white male dominance over the struggles of marginalized students. The intersectionality of culture, race, identity, gender, and ethnicity can only occur when individuals recognize his/her/zer own privileges in the overall advancement of society and social issues.
When people criticize a 50,000 hair show organized by BWA, they are being racist. Students of color need to safe space to style their hair (at the Hilton in downtown Eugene), otherwise all of our hard work will go to waste. Shame on anyone that criticizes this event. Shame on your attack on student programs and the diversity plan. People that criticize a 50,000 hair show don’t know where they came from.

All’s I know is that Sean Jin hates white people.

Go suck an egg.
The resolution was there a year earlier, ready to be passed, but members of the MCC forced it to committee where it was killed. If “marginalized” students want to hijack issues and not include whitey, fine, but don’t go pissing and moaning when whitey makes a statement about the hypocrisy within the movements of the student unions. Having equal participation in issues means equality for everyone, without the asinine statement “there is no way you can comprehend the issue, you are white.”
Stop making up words Mr. or Ms. Intersectionaliy (I’m not sure the proper term for a transvestite, Zrs.?). Privilege does not need to only be recognized; it needs to be respected, valued and used properly, and should not be wasted because liberals make privilege out as a curse on society. Privilege is not a measurable thing. There is not some giant Pie of Privilege in the world with a set amount of privilege to go around.
R.W. Emerson was kind of a crybaby, but sometimes he managed good quotes: “My life is not an apology.”

Philip:
Calm down, take a deep breath, and re-read Diversity’s post with an eye toward poorly-written satire.
