Oregon Primary Updates
Hillary has won Kentucky. Obama still has an overall lead in delegates, though. All eyes are now on Oregon, where polls officially close at 8 p.m. I’ll be updating this as the news comes in.

I wish Hillary would stop parading around her “I’m winning the popular vote” canard. She’s right, if you count all of the votes she got in places like Michigan and Florida annnnnnnnnd assume that Obama got 0 votes in Michigan and Florida.
I hate it when politicians play on the ignorance of the electorate. It will never happen, but our leaders should have a responsibility to actually ameliorate that ignorance and not inculcate it.
Bleh.

And don’t count the caucuses since, you know, working people (Whites) didn’t get to go to them!

Amen.

Beh. We all know it’s going to come down to a mud-wrestling contest in Denver between Obama, Hillary, and Al Gore. And Al Gore, aka ManBearPig, will win.
What *I* wanna know is if Kitty Piercy is going to get her ass handed to her. She deserves to be booted out of office for being an absolute and complete jackass.

Neither Torrey nor Piercy won 50% +1 vote as of 1 a.m., which means they’ll most likely both appear in a runoff election in November. Yes, that means another five months of petty Eugene hippy bickering and hilariously slanted Eugene Weekly stories. Hurray!

Looks like I get to be involved in this one.
Go Jim Torrey. Kitty Piercy needs to be slaughtered in November.

Torrey sucks. : )

Hey, I’d rather take a sucky former mayor than a venereal-disease laden prostitute for the green lobby as Eugene’s mayor.
As you can tell, there’s no love lost between myself and Kitty. This upcoming election, the city of Eugene needs to spay the Kitty.

The problem of who is mayor of Eugene has been a constant for the last 20-30 years or so…maybe even longer. Piercy may not be perfect, but she is certainly the lesser problem of the two….so far. Torrey is a tool. : ) I also don’t like him because he’s masquerading as an Independent to further his political career after his latest failure at the hands of Vicki Walker. It’s lame, typical and not something I would support.
Torrey also wants to improve streets. Piercy did the same and the city government tried to do this but the voters turned it down. So, people in Eugene can only blame themselves for the crap roads, and I’m not sure how Torrey would elicit more support for this amongst voters. Especially given the lack of power in the mayoral office here in Eugene. If anything, change needs to happen on the city council where decisions are actually made.
In the end, they’re almost the same candidate though. So, I guess it doesn’t matter who wins and maybe we can all jump onto your bandwagon anyway. : )

Eugene’s form of government makes the position of mayor nearly meaningless. The only reason Piercy has wielded so much influence is because the council is a group of whiny children, and its inability to agree on anything has resulted in Piercy casting many tie-breaking votes.

Piercy/Torrey in 2008… it’s like Eugene is stuck in some kind of nightmare “Groundhog Day” scenario.

Go figure.
