It's one thing to hate on the Chi-Coms, it's another to try to force a billion people to remain poor because you lack a basic understanding of international trade economics.

I'm pretty tired of lawsuits seeking money for people who were "offended."

I wasn't interested in Cafferty's comments so much as protesters and their zeal. On a Saturday.
Sure, we have our share of protesters here, but we take the weekends off, last time I checked.

I'm all for criticism of every government, but I'm afraid China-bashing is becoming a national pastime. Not only is it hypocritical (so now we're the authorities on human rights again?) but it's also largely ignorant of actual conditions there.

You run a country of over a billion people in the midst of wrenching social and economic change and then tell me how easy it is to uphold the full portfolio of human rights in all cases. Sounds apologist, I know, but regime change starts at home. Or at Walmart.

Also, Nik Kristoff is an unbearable bore.

Disagree. Every "people" is self-righteous and proud in one way or another. Difference is, after some persuasion, we're willing to admit our mistakes and change.

"I have never known a more self-righteous and proud people than the Chinese."

Nick Kristof, of the NYT, recently suggested that the only other "people" that come close in terms of pride and self-righteousness is... US.
