MCC vs. Me

I’ll admit it, I fanned the flames with my last article about the Multicultural Center.

I’m not going to say anything about them here, but please just refer to the comments of this Facebook Note by our illustrious friend and my fellow ASUO Senator Diego Hernandez.

The best parts are pasted down below in case you are too lazy to read a new page or log into Facebook.

Can you expect anything else from a token conservative Asian? (emphasis mine)

Remember to question America is to be anti-American.This sounds familiar, oh yeah, this is how the patriot act happened.

We can’t really expect Sean Jin to be logical, nor can we expect him to understand history. I mean he called me a racist, what does that mean? It means he has no understanding of what racism is, structures of power, history and that his ignorant logic is telling him that anything that questions his embedded thoughts, is anti-American.

But Zach, I love him too.

Look all I am saying is that this is pointless discussion, that shouldn’t be taken extremely serious [sic], nor for someone to feel morally righteous to silence us or put us in our place.

My response: Haha, I’m a token. Never thought I’d reach that status. I like how you guys use vocabulary from Ethnic Studies textbooks to talk down to people that disagree with you.

And Sen. Hernandez: “[This pointless discussion] shouldn’t be taken extremely serious”. That’s a good point. So maybe you could lay off of the personal attacks if this isn’t so “extremely serious”. Or is that your idea of “shits and giggles”? Because in that case, my last article in the Commentator about the MCC was also for “shits and giggles”.
Please stop making attacks and then hiding behind the “let’s not take it too seriously” excuse.

“Ethnic Studies textbooks” jajajaja (This guy)
As apposed [sic] to the history you read from high school history books.

Being a token isn’t a status, and I don’t hide behind shit, my actions reflect my opinions. Speaking of hiding behind words, hate speech on race is different from political dialog, or childish insults.

“Please stop making attacks and then hiding behind the ‘let’s not take it too seriously’ excuse.” – Lets play hide and go seek, I’ll hide behind the seriousness of my “attacks” and you’ll seek whether I am really hiding behind anything.

Heres another attack, lets play hide and go fuck yourself.

This is really the best he’s got. Telling me to play ‘Hide and go fuck yourself’.

What else would explain the lack of intellectual dialogue on their part? What else would explain the personal backlash that I am experiencing as an individual?

In answer to the first question – being incapable of intellectual discourse in the first place.

In answer to the second – see answer to the first.

  3. Sean says:

Not worth it, Ossie. I’m out, I’m tired of people arguing for the sake of pissing people off. I wanted to start a dialogue that didn’t involve stupid claims and personal attacks. Obviously that didn’t happen, and obviously the MCC either feels very defensive about my observations of them, or knows that they are true. What else would explain the lack of intellectual dialogue on their part? What else would explain the personal backlash that I am experiencing as an individual?

This is how these people stifle dialogue and discussion, everyone. They hammer you with ad hominem personal attacks until you grow weary of it and give up.

  4. Ossie says:

That’s it. I’ve had enough of this meandering around the issue. Let

  5. Vincent says:

Diego Hernandez is a fraud and an intellectual midget.

  6. Betz says:

Word, but I like the short bit afterwards…: “I mean he called me a racist, what does that mean? It means he has no understanding of what racism is….”

Because evidently, Diego can flip any and all accusations of racism and tokenism on anyone he wants to, but the moment someone points the finger of racism at him, he questions their intelligence. Brilliant!

Does this remind anyone else of the I’m-rubber-you’re-glue argument of grade school?

  7. Vincent says:

Best part: “I mean he called me a racist, what does that mean?”

Huh. I wonder if it has anything to do with calling Sean a “token conservative Asian.” What a tool.

  8. T says:

    Oh, Diego, that coy flirt.
