Not that I am ashamed, mind you, but I've never found a reason to be proud of something biological and therefore, beyond my control. I completely understand being proud of something that you or someone you know has accomplished in the face of (real, not imagined) racism or any other -ism, even though as a white, straight male, I'm not subject to many -isms. But, for me personally, I've never understood people's pride of anything that they don't control. Maybe it's just my white privilege speaking.
