“Thedude”, despite his weak grammar, is absolutely right. I mean, I can’t think of a single reason why the US Navy would have ships stationed in the Strait of Hormuz, the only outlet through which Iraqi ports have access to the ocean. Nope. Can’t think of a single reason. Not one.

Interesting, I don’t remember hearing about iranian boats off the coast of Florida, or in the gulf of mexico, or outside San Diego. So we put an armada off there coast and then get pissed when there ships get a little too close?

I think Iran is making more of a Leroy Jenkins move in this case. This is from a CSM article:

The boats reportedly got within several hundred yards of the American ships and dropped boxes in the water. Radio communications between the vessels indicated the Iranian boats were preparing to detonate explosives.

Pentagon officials would not confirm specifics of the communications, but according to CNN, which first reported the story, an individual on one of the Iranian ships radioed, “I am coming at you. You will explode in a couple of minutes.”

To which the US ships responded, “That’s what she said!”
