The cover story of this week’s Eugene Weekly is about Oregon’s booming wine industry reaching into the Southern Willamette Valley. The article contains numerous stats and number-crunching. For the brief history section of the article, Lance Sparks does some crack reporting.

Yes, the Weekly used Wikipedia as a source, and admitted doing it. I will let you judge for yourself.

As silly as it is to source Wikipedia, they’ve been sourcing IndyMedia for years. Far more offensively stupid is the article’s contention that a booming wine economy in Oregon could be a negative development because land values will increase and too many wealthy people will want to visit the area.

The only problem I have with this is that all those damn Californian immigrants are swooping up our cheap land. We need to put up another sign at the border, “Welcome to Oregon — We Hope You Enjoy Your Visit”
