In another example of how the ASUO rewards procrastination and lack of effort, that special request was made two days before delegates left for their DC conference. In other words, the special request has already been spent while my grievance which calls for a revote on the request is still pending. On the other hand, I guess it makes sense that our student leaders who demonstrate the least commitment to ethics and fair play are the ones lobbying our elected representatives… birds of a feather and all that.

Heres the ODE headline they should have printed…

In other news, the Emerald has reported on the story, and they quote Gulley as saying “I think that it’s pretty clear that there’s no requirement that I not vote,” he said. “I don’t imagine it will go anywhere. I’m not particularly worried.” Good for you Nate, way to own up to your actions. Now, maybe you could explain why Jen and Sun and Juliana all abstained? If you actually read the petition that I placed in your greasy mitts, you’d see that although Roberts does say that “no member can be compelled to refrain from voting in such circumstances,” that does not mean that you shouldn’t face consequences for voting. In other words, I agree that the Senate couldn’t have stopped you from voting, but you simply should have stopped yourself, and you should face consequences for not. Just because the rules can’t force you to be ethical doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be punished for not being ethical.
