Fomer OCer, Drunk Makes The Big Time
Congratulations are in order for Oregon and, ever so briefly, the Commentator’s own Eric Pfeiffer on his piece in the newest issue of Reason magazine. He points out the inconsistencies of the “fiscally responsible” RSC, and puts the lie to any hope that Congress will rein-in spending any time soon.

Kudos to Pfeiffer for his article. I really should just buck up and get a damn subscription to the magazine already. Twenty bucks is like my usual bar tab at Rennie’s on a Friday night.

I’d love to read the article, but I’m on campus and the UO’s DNS servers are still pointing to the old Reason site.

Was Eric ever at the OC? It was before my time, but he was friends with the old crowd (well before my time). He did a lot of work at the ODE, too.

He published like two things for us.

Cool. Was that during Pete and Bret’s first year?

I think so, I’d have to scan the archive to be sure.

Not on your life — I published Eric’s Commentator work, starting with a One Shot about the OC for the Hack Attack issue (when he was still with the ODE) and culminating with a piece for that year’s Hate. If I recall, he said he hated the UO for making him feel almost like a Republican — I’ll have to ask if he now loves the UO for the exact same reason.

Shit, that’s the piece I was thinking about. Sorry, Bill. It’s been a while, and there was a lot of continuity between those years.

Have I really been gone from the university that long? Wait, don’t answer that.
