Hey im an Oregon fan and I was Pissed about the BCS to but Notre Dame almost beat USC thats got to count for some thing

sorry no OFFENSE intended! btw who granted you absolute authority over my opinion, seems to me this whole mess turns out to be over notre lames strength of schedule. if they had a record of 9-2 against quality opponents no one would be griping right now, hopefully this concept isnt to lofty for you to perceive also

The Notre Dame rule that all conference commissioners signed off on for the BCS rules:

If Notre Dame has nine or more victories and is eighth or higher in the final BCS rankings, they get an at-large spot.

Talk about buying your way in.

And, while fair is a good and fine ideal, this is college football we’re talking about…was it fair for Oregon to deal with Fife and his mullet? Is it fair that Willingham had such a crappy season at UW? (oh wait, that one was…)

It’s more about money than anything, especially fairness.

Actually, FSU gets in because they are conference champions…

The BCS’ eight spots are filled with:
The No. 1 and 2 teams in the poll (who both hopefully fit in the next category)
The conference champs from the: Pac-10, SEC, ACC/Big East, Big Ten, Big 12.
At-large spots/Notre Dame

The Rose gets the Big Ten and Pac 10 (unless it’s this year, when they get 1 and 2)
The Sugar gets SEC champ
The Orange gets ACC or Big East
The Fiesta gets Big 12

Pac 10 = USC = Rose
Big 12 = Texas = No. 2 = Rose

Big ten = at-large = Penn State = Orange
ACC = Florida State = Orange
(Because Bowden vs. Paterno sounds good to old people)

Big East = West Virginia = Sugar
SEC = Georgia = Sugar
(Because it’s closer for WV…and, in fairness, they’re 10-1, too)

Fiesta gets its pick, but Ohio State finished in the top four without getting a conference champ spot, so it gets in.
And, because old people matter and young alumni who have money don’t, Notre Dame (with it’s new! coach) goes.

Technically, the bowls can pick any of the top 11 teams in the final BCS ranking when all the bought-in conference champions are assigned to a bowl.
