They actually said that the future of campus diversity is in jeopardy (or something to that effect) just because this overpaid bureaucrat is leaving. Greg Vincent is a joke. Forcing diversity through quotas and set-asides is just like a communist-style planned economy- it ignores the free market and therefore leads to gross inefficiencies. We should let diversity happen on it's own, driven by the forces of diversity supply and diversity demand. I guess I'm what you'd call a "laissez-faire diversifier." I suspect that this is not the case. Pretty much any faculty member here at the UO who is offered a comparable job at UT would be crazy not to take it. Increased pay, higher prominence, and better weather are hard to argue against.
